Casts From the Past XXXIV

Casts From the Past is a recurring retrospective of select Palladio GFRG projects

Even plaster – a material respected and employed for thousands of years – can use a tweak to its chemistry in certain situations.

The gypsum in this ceiling grill has been enhanced with polymers that make it stronger, more durable, and more resistant to the unique challenges of its location.

Reminiscent of reverse chain-mail, this custom designed panel is destined to be part of the exterior façade for a luxury retailer.

Once the mold is poured, it will be cast in GFRG – glass fiber reinforced gypsum.

When monogramming your towels isn't quite enough. ‍

In actuality, Palladio GFRG is restoring and replicating this gigantic cartouche for a state building.

Often considered the most ornate order of classical Greek architecture, being Corinthian makes these pilaster capitals some of the most complex Palladio GFRG has ever cast.

We improve our skills by creating, but so too do we learn by recreating the work of past masters. Here, a Palladio GFRG craftsperson is replicating the intricate details of an already extant column capital. .

There aren’t many feelings better than the satisfaction of completing the first project for a new client, except perhaps the feeling when that customer hires you to do a second!
