Casts From the Past XVI

Casts From the Past is a recurring retrospective of select Palladio GFRG projects.

Holidays overindulgence making you feel a bit down? Relax, sometimes a bit of “gilt” can be amazing!

Domes that come in different shapes require different methods of construction. The major challenge here was the center strip of lights that had to run the length of the ellipse.

Because these panels will eventually reside on the exterior of a Manhattan building, resin was used instead of plaster. Close inspection of the second photo reveals the fibers that further increase their strength and durability.

Ionic columns have a little lie down before being shipped to their forever home in Montreal. Little known fact: columns are quite the performers; they do stand-up most of their lives. (Rimshot!)
