Hey, you ask, what's marble doing in our plaster studio?
Actually, it's scagliola, a composite of plaster, glue, pigments -- and 11 herbs and spices. Fashionable in 17th century Tuscany, scagliola imitated the look of hard stone but allowed for colors ranging from natural to intense. This sample was whipped up for a luxury retailer in Hawaii.
