Casts From the Past XXIII

Casts From the Past is a recurring retrospective of select Palladio GFRG projects.

As Buckley amply demonstrates, the mascot for a plaster studio should always be professionally attired. And considering the amount of plaster dust, white fur is highly recommended!

Awaiting the moulding process, this leg and a sibling will eventually support a mantle in a theatre’s lobby in Cleveland, Ohio.

Foyers – like this NYC townhome’s which we provided plaster pieces for – are a home’s greeting.  A foyer introduces you to the dwelling home beyond, and transforms you from a visitor to a welcome guest.

After a post last week, several of our followers were wondering what the mantel legs would be holding up. To see how it will look in situ, turn your screen upside down. 😊

The two most common methods of creating an ornament are sculpting – performed on a soft material that hardens and is then moulded – and carving on an already solidified material.
