Casts From the Past XIII

Casts From the Past is a recurring retrospective of select Palladio GFRG projects.

Brackets, often called modillions, can be ornate or plain. They can also be purely functional, in that they support they weight of structures above them, or, like this classic acanthus with scroll, solely decorative.

Invisible in every dome is the combination of material, mathematical, and logistic advancements. We'd see that, perhaps, were our eyes not so filled with their beauty. Here are a selection of domes we've helped create.

When the original is so far gone – from age, erosion, paint, and previous attempts at repair – a restoration becomes more of a recreation.

Dentils, like these, have been adorning cornices since classical Greek and Roman times. They’re easily recognized and named because of their tooth-like appearance and positioning.
