Casts From the Past IX
Casts From the Past is a recurring retrospective of select Palladio GFRG projects.
Casting order of operations: 1) Brush plaster into nooks that otherwise harbor bubbles. 2) Add plaster and fiber for strength. The center is left empty to avoid additional weight. 3) Remove the mould from its case. 4) Remove the mould from the cast. 5) Examine for defects.
We've composed a special behind the scenes look at our work in Architectural Digest. Decide for yourself if Hall of Fame Architect, Peter Marino’s redesign of the Willis Polk residence is truly “the most beautiful house in America”. https://www.palladiogfrg.com/project-showcase/project-four-l3zw3-cykln
As seen in the 01/21 edition of Architectural Digest, our modest augmentation to the Missus’ bathroom in the “most beautiful house in America” was a capital with kelp-like leaves. The capitals were installed above each of the mirrored pilasters.
In the San Fran project, we followed the architect's mantra of "something old, something new" with an entirely new dome for the guest chambers, but reproduced the existing elliptical moulding from fragments retrieved after the demolition.
In the “most beautiful house in America”, diners now eat under our entirely new, custom-designed ceiling system, supported by a modillion block cornice.
